I was surfing around looking for something different to buy my dog to play with when I found BestFriends General Store. I liked the homey feel of the site and the unique offerings and so, I made an order. I like this site and will return!
What the Site Sells
Dog toys, teaching toys, bowls and other feeding supplies, dog treats and food, dog wear, leashes and collars, beds, and a few human dog related items like T-Shirts.
Navigation and Ordering
The site is simple and easy to navigate by category or search. The items are all described by the owners in informal, friendly ways and photos are zoomable. The owners clearly love their dogs and make sure they are involved in the descriptions. The homey, dog loving feel shines through in each description and on each page. When you find something you want, just add it to your cart. A note here. If you are ordering dog food and/or gift cards, make that order separately as food and cards ship free but only if not within an order of other items. If you plan to go over $75.00, don't worry about it as shipping is automatically free for orders over that amount.
When you have finished shopping, you can opt to register with the site or proceed without doing so. Fill in the usual info and choose which major credit card you want to use or use PayPal. Orders are confirmed right away and then another letter comes verifying the order and then you will get a shipping email. Orders arrive in a week or so, packed well and with a printed invoice.
My Experience
I really enjoyed checking out the site and browsing the many offerings. I saw many items I wanted but, since this was my first visit to the site, I didn't want to spend too much. I like to be sure the quality and service are good before plunging in. I found a toy I thought my dog would love (But he was afraid of it or something, it turns out. The toy is great. My dog is freaky.) and a few other smaller items and made a note of all the other things I wanted if my order went through OK.
I went to the checkout and chose not to register for this order. I filled in my address and chose PayPal. Shipping for my $29.00 order was $6.50. I received all the emails in a very timely fashion and my order arrived packed very well and exactly as described in about five days after my shipping email came, a total of seven days from order to my door.
Quality seems quite high and, even though my dog had some kind of freak out over the toy squirrel I bought him, I fully intend to buy more unique toys and other dog stuff on this site. It's a friendly, homey site with unique items and good prices.
Shipping and Returns
Shipping is $5.00 to $9.50 and free for orders over $75.00 in the continental United States. Dog food and gift cards are shipped free if purchased without any other items that have shipping charges. Tax is only charged in Arizona. They ship internationally as well and a shipping chart is on the site for those rates.
Returns are accepted on new items within 30 days of purchase. If the item is not as described the site will pay return shipping, otherwise, you must pay to ship the item back as is standard.
Wrap Up
BestFriends General Store is just like an old time general store for dogs. Everything you could want (besides medications) is there and much is very unique. I love the Chewy Vuiton Designer Bed and the Sniffany & Company Blue Box Bed, knock offs of Louis Vuitton and Tiffany designs. The toys are extremely unique and I WILL find one that doesn't scare the fur off my little dog. I had a very pleasurable experience on this site am planning to buy much more soon. My dog needs new stuff and this is where I will buy it.
I give this site 4 stars and recommend it. It's a great site for dog lovers and the dogs they love!
