I normally don't buy accessories for our cell phones anywhere but from the phone manufacturer but my 16 year old son has lost the charger, headset, and even battery for his phone more times than I can count.
I was sick of paying high prices for replacement accessories so I took a look around the net. I found Cell Phone Accessories Shop when performing a search. A long name for a site that only cell phone accessories, isn't it?
This is a decent site with lots of accessories for many — but not all — cell phones. The prices are decent and, from my experience, everything works fine.
What Cell Phone Accessories Sells
The site sells cells phone accessories. Period. There are many name brands represented — although my current phone, the LG VX8100 — isn't. My youngest son's, which is an LG VX6000, is though. Just about every brand name phone has a category but not all phones in the brand are represented. Some of the names represented are: Audiovox, Kyocera / Qualcomm, LG / LGIC, Mitsubishi, Motorola, Nextel / iDen, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony Ericsson, and Touchpoint.
Navigation and Ordering
The site is super simple. There is nothing flashy or high tech about this one. The names of the phone brands are in orange blocks on the right side of the site. They also have a search box for a fast search.
The main page has listings of current specials and high demand items.
Click on your brand of phone and photos of different models will come up, with the model numbers beneath them. Click on your phone and see what is being offered.
In general, there are several items from chargers to headsets, to phone covers and batteries offered for each phone.
Retail list prices are shown and their actual prices are shown in red.
Click to add items to your cart. You don't have to guess what your shipping charges will be because it is a flat $5.50 for the first item and $1.00 extra for each additional item. That charge is for standard USPS or UPS shipping. You can switch methods and speed of shipping and the cart will update the shipping cost for you.
When you are finished shopping, head to the checkout area. Fill out your billing and shipping addressee(s) and email and move on to pay with a major credit card or you can choose Paypal.
You will receive a confirmation and a shipping email. Your order should arrive promptly, packed well, and complete.
My Use
I had a totally uneventful experience, which, for me, is a GOOD thing. I was a little bummed that the phone both my older son and I own was not represented but I didn't need anything at that moment anyway. My younger son's phone was listed and there were several accessories at good prices for it.
I picked out a few accessories I needed and added them to my cart. I filled out my name and address and clicked on the shipping method I preferred.
My shipping was $7.50 for a $25.00 order — a total of three items. Not great but not enough to stop me from placing the order because the prices were much lower than the prices on Verizon's website where I generally buy accessories.
This site sells both OEM and non-OEM products. None of the ones I bought were OEM, which could account for the much cheaper prices.
I paid with my MasterCard and got an immediate confirmation letter. I got a shipping letter the next day and my order arrived fast — I think in around four days.
The items aren't fancy. They were packaged in crinkly clear plastic bags or in simple white boxes. But everything fit and worked fine. The charger works just as well as the original and the other items are fine.
If my son loses more stuff, I will go back to this site but I do wish the shipping were a bit lower. It is more reasonable when orders are larger. If they had accessories for my older son's and my phones, I would order some back up accessories because we always misplace stuff but it turns up again after a while.
For what I needed, this site came through fine, however.
Shipping and Returns
Standard US shipping is $5.50 for the first item and $1.00 for each additional item. This makes larger orders much more affordable then single orders.
You can choose faster delivery for a fee.
They do ship internationally for $7.00 shipping per item.
You can return anything within 30 days for a refund, credit, or exchange minus shipping charges.
I love this policy. If any non-OEM product you buy becomes defective within six months after purchase, they will replace it free. That is a great policy and one that is hard to come by! OEM (Items made by the original manufacturer) well be dealt with through that manufacture which warranties their products.
Conclusion
I bought some real junk on eBay that fell apart after a few uses and then I refused to buy from anyone but my wireless carrier. Now, I have found Cell Phone Accessories Shop. I am very satisfied with the quality, shipping speed, and prices but wish they carried accessories for the two phones we use most in the house.
Shipping can be painful for one or two items but, if you are buying more than that, it is reasonable.
I am quite satisfied with this site and will return. However, I will have to go looking for another site for accessories for my and my son's LG VX8100's and that ticks me off.
Still, I give this site 4 stars. It has a great warranty policy for non-OEM items and prices are low. If your phone model is represented, don't hesitate to shop there.
