Computer Gear

Computer Gear is a wonderful place to shop for all the family computer geeks. Since I fall under that category but on the soft side of the mother board, I can tell you that I'd love to have several things from this company. And, I bought presents for my brother who is a troubleshooter for a major software company.

I found this store when I was searching for t-shirts for my brother. He likes unusual t-shirts but not the ones that are on every rack at every Wal-Mart. I thought maybe I could find him something online that was a little different.

Computer Gear has some really neat t-shirts, and I bought a blue one that had a Windows window about pressing and never getting anywhere other than that error window. There was one with a board all over the front and back that looked neat too, but it was black. My brother is light and has blue eyes, so I thought the blue would look better on him.

After I picked the t-shirt I checked out some of the other categories, and they had all kinds of unique and cute things. I bought some computer key button covers with funny things written on them and also a notepad made of recycled 3.5 discs for the covers.

The items came in USPS and fast even though we have a winter freeze in this area and no power at the Post Office. They were bagged in clear plastic, so I could check them out before wrapping. All were very nice quality and cute — just like pictured online.

Computer Gear sent a catalog with the order that runs $2 if you have to buy it. I checked on the web site, and you can sign up and get the catalog. The catalog is not huge, but it has more items than the web site. The web site has some close outs though with deep discount prices.

Some of the other neat things from Computer Gear that I really liked include the key buttons with a love theme (would be nice for Valentine's Day), some of the animals that lay on top of the computer, a little mini vacuum for the keyboard (Where does all that dust come from?), and a game chair that hooks to the computer and does all kinds of neat things with motion and sound. The chair is expensive, but it folds up to take anywhere, and it looks really fun.

If you decide to order, then you can get a free PANIC button for the computer from the catalog. That would run about $2 if you bought it outright and averaged for the 8 button set. They don't offer that gift on the web site, and I wish they would add that on.

I know I can find some of the computer people gifts at various places, but this store is really nice having it all in one space and a good selection. The prices are reasonable — not cheap but not over the top. Shipping is about what it would cost to mail, and they do send first class and well packed. They have real phone numbers and emails and easy to find, but I didn't need to get in touch. The feeling was very friendly though, and I would not hesitate to get in touch if needed.

If you need to buy gifts for someone who loves computers (or golf), then I would say to check out this store. The items are cute as can be, well made, and the online shopping experience is rock solid.
