Whenever I mention that I placed an order with Frederick's of Hollywood, most people nod and smirk thinking I am buying sexy, kinky lingerie.
The site has that but they have lots of other things too — like clothing and shoes and even not so sexy undies (but no Granny panties).
This site is a decent — if a bit overpriced — one for both lingerie and pretty clothing.
What the Site Sells
Frederick's sells their signature lingerie — bras, panties, thongs, camis, baby dolls, teddies, and all that jazz. They also sell clothing, shoes, hosiery, accessories, and costumes. Everything is geared toward looking sexy and feminine but clothing is wearable almost anywhere, not just when you're pole dancing. (But, admittedly, some of their clothing and shoes would it right in a pole dancer's collection.)
The Website
The site is easy to navigate. The homepage has an attractive photo of their latest catalog cover as well as their current promotions. There are category links across the top and a search box for keyword or catalog item number.
You can go straight to the clearance area as I do or browse the categories for items you want. Finding what you are looking for can be a bit confusing because the subcategories aren't the traditional ones. They are things like "Day to Evening" and "Versatile and Comfortable" under the clothes heading. I prefer simple subheads that don't make me guess what is behind link #1 or #2.
This site isn't huge and doesn't have the hundreds of choices that many other sites have but they have enough variety to satisfy me most of the time.
Photos are alluring and sharp and descriptions are adequate. I like that you can zoom in, enlarge, and see items in all the color choices by rolling your mouse over the color. That really helps me to visualize the item.
When you look at one item, there is at least one other accessory or matching item under that one to entice you to pull an outfit or lingerie set together.
Click on the color and size to put things in your cart.
There is a shipping chart kind of tucked away under "Help" or else you can sign in with your email address and password or fill in your personal info and shipping charges will show up. Choose standard shipping or expedited for a higher fee.
If all looks OK, enter your major credit card details and you're all set. You will get a confirmation number and an email.
You will receive notification of shipping within a couple of days.
Your order will arrive in about 10 days to two weeks (Slow shipping indeed.) discretely packaged in a polybag or box.
My Experience
I used to shop on this site a lot but I rarely do any longer. They are having a special sale this week so I did stop by and order a really hot looking lace blazer. The price was great but the shipping killed it. For a $39.99 blazer, shipping was $10.99.
Everything went fine though and I got my nice looking, sexy plum lace blazer in about 10 days. It takes a while for shipping but I was in no hurry. The fit was right and the quality was good.
In the past, I bought lots of things from Frederick's, even the infamous "water bras" that people were wearing around 10 years ago. Man, those things were ridiculous and heavy. They still sell them on the site too!
At any rate, I have never experienced any major problems shopping at Frederick's online but I am not a frequent shopper. Most prices are inflated and shipping is too high for my liking. I do get their mailings and will go and check out the sales though and pick up a few things if the prices are right.
Shipping and Returns
Shipping charges range from $4.99 to $24.99 for standard. You can opt for expedited shipping for a fee.
You can return items within 90 days of shipment for a refund or exchange. Shipping charges are non-refundable.
They include a prepaid shipping label you can use which subtracts $6.50 from sent back packages without shoes or $7.50 for packages with shoes. You can also pay for return shipping yourself.
It can get expensive paying for shipping and shipping orders back but that is how most stores on the net operate these days.

In Closing
This is a decent site with some sexy lingerie and clothing. The variety is fairly limited and the prices are somewhat high. Quality is good though and many items are unique. Sales are good so you should sign up for their newsletters and watch for their clearance sales.
I am not thrilled with their slightly pricey shipping and the length of time it takes to get an order though.
If you're looking for something specific or want a sassy outfit for a night out or a special occasion, Frederick's can fix you up. But at a cost you may not want to spend.
I give this site 3 stars because the inventory is quite small and the prices range from a bit high to wicked high. I do recommend the site though because everything is good quality and you can return anything — even intimates and clearance items — within three months after shipment. That's a heck of a returns policy.
