Sometimes the Little Guys Sell Better and Less Expensive Stuff Than the Big Guys!

My Mineral Glitters

I am on a quest to find the best mineral makeup for dry, aging skin. At nearly 43, the last thing I need is powder settling into my fine lines, which is why I stayed far away from mineral foundations until recently. As part of research I am doing for an anti aging column I write elsewhere on the net, I have tried a number of mineral cosmetics.

One site that I stumbled across, first on eBay and then to the actual website, was My Mineral Glitters Online Store.

I really can't say enough good things about this site and its owner, Joelle.

What the Site Sells

This site sells hand made all natural mineral makeup, skin care, and some application brushes. It's a small company with exceptionally reasonable prices.

Navigation and Ordering

This site is as simple as it gets. The home page is in pink and there are links to the products, testimonials, info about the products and their ingredients, and contact details.

Just click a link to see what is offered in the category.

Descriptions are ample and photos are very good. The price and sizing info is straightforward.

Aside from selling individual products, the site also sells bulk amounts of products for those who know what they like and want a discount on larger sizes as well as 10 packs of certain items for people to resell or give as gifts.

Click to add items to your cart.

The cart keeps a running tally of how much you are ordering as you add to it.

When you are finished, you will go to the checkout area where you fill out your personal details and email address.

I was taken right to Paypal but I believe the site accepts major credit cards as well.

I paid $5.00 shipping for all I wanted. I am not sure how long that policy will stay in effect. There was no sales tax.

You will receive an automated confirmation of your order. I did not get a shipping email because my stuff came the next mailing day. (I ordered on a Friday and received my order on Monday.)

Orders come in padded envelopes with an application tip sheet. Products are sealed and well labeled.

My Experience

I drove the owner, Joelle, nuts. Because I am so unfamiliar with mineral makeup, the idea of "Mineral Glitters" scared me. I mean, was this stuff glitter in a sifter jar? I was assured that the make up was NOT glittery and that the name really was just chosen as a offbeat fun one but consideration was being given to a name change so people like me didn't get the wrong idea.

I quizzed her on what shades I needed, how much was in each jar (Grams, blah!), and everything else imaginable.

She responded almost immediately with friendly answers and information I needed to make my purchase. If she hadn't been right there, I may have moved on to other mineral makeup companies because I really thought the stuff was glitter in a jar.

At any rate, I finally placed my order and breathed a sigh of relief after my zillion question barrage. I am sure Joelle did too.

I ordered on a Friday and got a confirmation email immediately after paying by Paypal. On Monday, the package was in my mailbox via priority mail.

Included were some free items for me to sample as well as my complete order and a tip sheet that I relied heavily on.

I emailed Joelle again asking how much mineral make up to use and she again was right there helping me out.

This is not a review of the products (I hope to review them all in time) but I will say that I am VERY impressed with the quality, coverage, and price of every item I bought. This is by far the least expensive mineral makeup site I have visited and the sizes of products are very generous.

Add to that the fact that, yesterday I wore ONLY Mineral Glitters mineral makeup except for mascara (which the site sells but I didn't buy yet) and got compliments all day, and I would say I am satisfied on all counts.

Shipping and Returns

Shipping is a flat $5.00 so stock up or get together with a friend and combine orders. I don't know how long the $5.00 shipping will last but it has been going on for a while and seems to be the standard shipping cost.

There is no posted returns policy on the site but there is a contact email that you can write to before you order to clarify. I assume, because this is personal care, opened items are not returnable. I have seen feedback on the eBay store where customer thanked Joelle for the exchange, though, so you may want to get clarification if you are unsure about what you are buying.

I had no need to return anything. It all worked out great for me. I am enjoying learning how to use this new makeup and will order more soon. The brushes are awesome, by the way, and of the exact quality of much higher priced ones. Very impressive.

Conclusion

Are you thinking of trying mineral makeup or do you use it now but hate to pay the high prices? My Mineral Glitters is inexpensive and high quality. The amount of product you get is much larger than most mineral makeup sites sell. Not only are the prices incredibly fair, the makeup will last for months.

The anti aging creams — all natural, of course — are excellent. The Firm-A-Lift Cream is amazing. At a fraction of the cost of many big name brands, this cream lifts, firms, and tightens my face with no harsh chemicals.

But enough about the products. The customer service stands out. Smaller sites' service either tends to be terrible or great. This falls into the great category. I was a real pest (and probably will be again when I make another order) and all my questions were answered super fast and with the info I needed in a friendly tone.

This isn't the biggest site nor is it the best designed. There are no bells and whistles and it's very simple in design. But, when I consider the prices, sizes, quality, service, and ease of use of the site, I simply can't fault the site for not being ultra high tech.

5 stars!
