How Can My Lips Be Pure When They Won't Provide Me With What I Need?
Pure Lip
My son had a cold sore and I picked him up some lip stuff at the drugstore. It didn't work too well and he seems to get them on and off mostly in the summer so I went looking for a product that would work better than the generic stuff I bought.
I found a little tiny website, Pure Lip, that sold two count em two products but were claiming to be the most effective healer and preventer of cold sores on the market.
Although the products Pure Lip Remedy and Pure Lip Prevention are sold in drugstores, this little site exists for people who apparently can't find the products or don't want to go looking for them. It has free shipping so, if you can wait a while for the stuff, you can get it delivered to your door for no extra charge. But, I found out, all that seems easy isn't always so...
What the Site Sells
This site sells Pure Lip Remedy and Pure Lip Prevention balms made especially for those with cold sores and to prevent reoccurrences of cold sores. That is all. Nothing else.
Navigation
With just two products, one would think navigation would be simple. It isn't.
The home page shows pictures of the two products and gives a bit of info on them.
Across the side is a list of links: Solution, Remedy, Prevention, Ingredients, Compare, Testimonials, FAQs, and Cold Sores. None of these links take you to a place where you can actually BUY these two products but the info is interesting and helpful for cold sore sufferers.
Underneath all the links is a cart graphic. Clicking that will take you to where you can actually purchase the products. In theory. When I went there, they were all out of their own products and sent me to drugstore.com or Walgreens to get them.
How do they run out of the only two things they sell? I don't get it. I mean, if other places are selling it, why don't these people have their own product in stock? I was confused and remain that way.
Nonetheless, I came back a week later and they had the Remedy in stock but the Prevention was still out. Because shipping was free and the price was the a tiny bit less (between 19 cents and 50 cents) than anywhere else on the net, I ordered a tube of the Remedy. My son wasn't suffering from a cold sore at the time but I wanted to be ready. I would have liked to have gotten the Prevention but it wasn't in stock so I ended up getting it at drugstore.com the next time I made an order there.
Once you get to ordering phase, it's simple. Put the number of tubes you want into your cart. When you are done, it takes you right to a paypal page although the site makes a point of saying you do not need a paypal account to buy from them. I saw no way around it. It took me right to paypal! I do have a paypal account so it was no biggie but I have no idea how credit card users would purchase from this site since you are automatically sent to paypal.
I wasn't charged shipping or tax and paid my $7.50 and was done with it. I didn't get anything but my paypal confirmation to prove I had made a purchase. About two and a half weeks later, I got my package, a bit banged up but usable. I later did use it on my son and it was effective.
Conclusion
This site isn't really a bad one, it's just not needed. You can get these two products at most drugstores and mass-market stores without a long wait for shipping. While the prices are a few cents lower that those at drugstore.com or Walgreens, it's hardly enough to merit the two plus week wait and to bother waiting for them to restock.
The product itself is fine. I have since purchased another tube of Pure Lip Remedy and one of Prevention and it works well on my son. He hasn't had a cold sore in at least five months.
I just don't think this website is worth bothering with. It does have some helpful info on cold sores and on the ingredients in Pure Lip products but, other than that, it's a lot easier to pick up a tube at the store or order it with your other things at online drugstores or buy it at mass-market stores.
I also don't understand how you can use a credit card on the site when it sends you straight to a paypal log in page. I haven't delved heavily into that but it seems, despite the fact the site claims you don't need a paypal account to purchase from them, you really do.
I just looked and they are once again out of Prevention and are directing people to Drugstore.com. Forget about it. Go to where they have the product in stock, pay the extra 19 cents, and live happily ever after.
