Shadowline Lingerie: Where Did They Hide the Lingerie on This Site?

Shadowline Lingerie

I love lingerie. Just ask my husband who can't figure out why I keep ordering it yet rarely wear it (Having two sons around all the time sort of squelches the idea of slinking around in sexy barely there stuff). I usually shop at Victoria's Secret, Fredericks of Hollywood, or La Senza but now and then I like to look around and see what's out there.

I found Shadowline Lingerie quite a while ago when I was looking for something nice but not overly revealing to wear at night on a trip (with the kids in tow). I get so sick of the usual nightwear when traveling.

Shadowline provided that but left me with some questions like...why is it called Shadowline Lingerie when there isn't any on the site?

What the Site Sells

The site carries bodywear, sleepwear, and loungewear. Oddly it carries no bras, no sexy panties (just very high waisted full coverage types), and nothing revealing.

Variety

This is a small site with not a lot of variety. It has three sections but several items fall into all three sections. There is a small assortment of panties, camis, slips, sleep and loungewear and that's about it. It's quite a small niche site.

Navigation

This website is extremely simply designed. You can check out items by category — Bodywear, Sleepwear, Loungewear, Women Sizes, New Arrivals, and Sale Items — or by individual pieces like panties, camis, robes, etc.

Once you choose an item to purchase, you click to buy after selecting your size and in the cart it goes. You immediately see the item and the shipping cost each time you add an item, which I like. I want to know exactly what I will be paying for shipping before I get to the check out.

When you're done shopping, you go to the express check out if you are a returning shopper or fill out the standard personal info form if you are a first time visitor. Once that information is in the system, you become a Shadowline customer even if you cancel the order and will then be able to express checkout the next time you visit and shop.

They accept all major credit cards and checkout is fairly pain free. You will get a letter of verification right after the order is placed but I never got one to tell me the product was shipping out. It just arrived about eight to 10 days after I placed the order.

My Experience

I purchased what looked like a cute pajama set in a silky material and, to be 100% honest, it looked more suited for my mother-in-law than me. It wasn't what I expected at all. It was quite oversized (even though I ordered my correct size according to the size chart) and a bit frumpy.

The quality was just OK. The prices are fair so I wasn't upset that the quality was not super high. However, they do make a point of saying their brand is not sold in lower end department stores like Target and Kmart yet the quality was very similar to what these stores offer.

I did call the company and they told me that some items run large. I wish I would have known that before I ordered the item. I ended up keeping it because shipping was high enough one way, I didn't want to pay to send it back and wait another several days for another item.

I won't go back there. The items are way too conservative for me and, because many items sell just by chest size but not cup, the slips and camis can be ill fitting. The panties are simply too conservative and big for my tastes. But that's me, others may like the styles offered.

Shipping and Returns

Shipping costs are average. For such light items, I think the shipping costs are a tad high but it is dependant on price not weight.

Regular shipping is as follows:

Merchandise Total: $0.00 - $24.99...Shipping Cost $5.00
Merchandise Total $25.00 - $49.99...Shipping Cost $7.00
Merchandise Total $50.00 - $99.99...Shipping Cost $10.00
Merchandise Total $100.00 - $199.99...Shipping Cost $14.00
Merchandise Total $200.00 - $499.99...Shipping Cost $19.00
Merchandise Total $500.00 +...Shipping Cost to be calculated

You can opt for expedited shipping for a higher fee.

The Return Policy seems very generous at first. You can return any item for up to 90 days after purchase and get a refund or exchange. That's great. But they have to have the tags on them to be returned. Why would anyone wait three months to return an unused, unworn item?

Still they do accept returns, even for intimates like panties (unworn of course), which is quite rare.

Conclusion

I wasn't impressed with this site. There is no lingerie, just a collection of very conservative slips, panties (briefs actually), camis, and loungewear. This sites seems more suited for very conservative women of which I am not. The prices range from decent to a bit high and there is nothing on this site you can't get at any brick and mortar department store for the same price. Sizes run big on some items and shipping can be a little pricey when ordering a few very small, light things.

Quality is just OK. Not bad, not great. Average. In fact, this is just an average niche website that sells a small variety of bodywear for average prices that look and feel average on.

3 average stars for this site. I know I won't be shopping there again but, if you do, be mindful that the sizing can run somewhat big.
