Good products, decent prices, and fair shipping is very important when shopping online but, for me, customer service is the most important aspect. If customer service blows, the rest really doesn't matter that much.
Walker's Warehouse has it all — good prices, loads of variety, good shipping costs, ease of buying — plus their customer service team is friendly, fast to answer questions, and very informative. This is why I will go back to that site time and again rather than trying to save a few bucks elsewhere.
What the Site Sells
This site, which is a sister site of Body Trends, sells loads of things for walkers and exercisers. Some items include footwear, apparel, workout DVDs, equipment, and hoards of other exercise related items.
Navigating the Site
This site is simple without the flashing and bling of some site. The home page tells of the current specials and there are category links down the site and across the bottom. There is also a search box.
All important links are visible — like customer service, contacting them, tracking orders, and live help.
Photos are good and descriptions are very detailed.
You will see the prices for the general public and for VIPs. To become a VIP, you just need to sign up and pay $20 the first year and $14.95 thereafter. You will receive 5% off every order and other perks.
Add items to your cart and when you are finished shopping, head to the checkout.
Fill out the usual information and move on to the payment area. Remember to input any promo codes you have before finishing your transaction.
At checkout, choose your shipping method. There are three methods/speeds for US shipping and one for Canada. Pay with AmEx, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover.
You will get confirmation and shipping emails and will be able to track your orders on the website.
Your order should arrive quickly without incident and packed well.
My Experience
I had been looking for a specific pair of somewhat funky walking shoes. I found two sites that carried the ones I wanted at essentially the same price.
I contacted both sites to be sure about the sizing as I had heard sizing was a little different for the shoes I was thinking of buying.
The other site responded that if I wasn't sure about what size I needed to please not order from them.
Walker's Warehouse responded with a long, personal letter about where I could try the shoes on first (complete with names and address of stores that carried the shoes in my area, essentially giving up a sale for me to get a proper fit) if I felt unsure and how the sizing went. I totally dismissed the other website and wrote back to Walker's Warehouse and asked if I got the wrong size, could I return the shoes. They again responded very quickly with an amazingly friendly tone saying that I absolutely could return the shoes and they went into more detail, ending the letter telling me to ask anything I wanted and they would be glad to help me.
That kind of service — to a consumer who had not even yet spent any cash on the site — is rare to find. Many sites ignore inquiries or send a form letter back. I was 100% confident in the site and went ahead and ordered from them.
They were having a great sale as well as offering free shipping on my item so I got a very good deal. My order arrived quickly, well packed, and as described.
I was very happy with every aspect of the site from easy navigation, great descriptions, good promotions and sales, and friendly customer service. I wrote to the site to thank them - something I rarely do because I expect good service — but they went above and beyond. They wrote me back quickly thanking me for the letter and my order and telling me that every order is treated as special and they welcomed my business again.
They will get it. Not only do they have a huge variety of items, many of which I am interested in, but they have fair prices, good sales, and great, friendly customer service.
During the day, they have live customer service on the site and all necessary info is very easy to find. There is no mystery to anything about the site as far as shipping charges, returns, and policies
I can't think of what else I could want in a site like this.
Shipping and Returns
If there are no shipping promotions going on, shipping starts at $5.95 and goes to $16.95 depending on your order total. There are two faster methods for higher fees.
Their returns policy is a good one. You can return anything within 45 days for a full refund (minus shipping) in "like new" condition. Hold onto your packaging — you need to return items in original packaging for a refund.
You can pay for the return yourself or put a sticker on the box and the post office will send it back priority mail (no matter how heavy) and your refund will be debited $8.95. This is good for larger exercise equipment and heavy items.
If the item fits in the mailbox, just drop it in and the site will take care of the rest.
Defective or damaged items will be replaced or refunded in full. Just call customer service for postage paid label.
Overall Impression
This site has a load of items for exercise enthusiasts from the beginner to the advanced. The products are so varied, anyone can find something they want. With their promotions and good prices, this site would be good. But, with the really good customer service they provide, it just brings the site up to a whole other level.
I am going with a rare 5 stars for this site. There is very little to complain about especially when everything went so smoothly before, during, and after the transaction.
