The Stakes Are In Your Favor
Webstakes
Webstakes was the first internet contest site I visited and although I've tried others (Windough, Iwon, etc.), I still like Webstakes best. While my warm fuzzy feelings may be partly a result of the prize I recently won, it is an interesting site and a great way to fill your spare time.
Navigating the website is simple. From the main page you can enter either individual contests or visit themed categories (Sports & Health, House & Home, Family & Kids) where you can enter to win various consumer goods (DVD players, televisions, computer peripherals, and many etc.) or gift certificates to on-line or retail businesses. The prizes are high quality and you can enter as many times as there are sponsors for the page (if there are 8 sponsors, you may enter 8 times for each prize in the themed categories).
It is easy to waste a few minutes . . . or a few hours at this site. I semi-justify it by running the AllAdvantage view bar at the same time and tell myself I'm adding to my son's college fund (at fifty cents an hour).
Prize fulfillment works well. Winners are encouraged to post a short note praising Webstakes :-) and many do. Gift certificates seem to be mailed out within days after initial notification. My personal story is a little different, but I am very satisfied. In October I was notified via e-mail that I had won a Samsung television and that I should allow 8-12 weeks for delivery. It had not yet arrived after 10 weeks, and I had hoped that it would arrive before Christmas . . . a gift beyond my son's wildest dreams.
I sent an e-mail to Webstakes which explained my situation and asked that they let me know if the television would arrive before Christmas. Although I did not receive a personal reply as promised by the automated reply, the television was air shipped from back east and arrived on December 21. I was very happy and my son was thrilled. I received no details on which television I had won in my initial e-mail and I hoped for at least a 19-inch to replace my little 13-inch set. To my delight, we received a 27-inch stereo set. Now, I'm entering Webstakes contests every day for Dreamcast systems and DVD players . . .
